Pre-Employment Security Requirements

Congratulations on your tentative selection for a position with the VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System!

Pre-Employment Investigation Requirements. In accordance with Federal regulations, we are required to have background investigations on all employees. This is completed through a secure web-based program called: e-QIP. A satisfactory background investigation on record is a “condition of employment” and your cooperation in completing the paperwork accurately, completely, and timely is imperative. Refusal to cooperate with requirements to complete the investigation could affect your employment with the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Below is a link to the e-QIP website to complete your background investigation. If given instruction to do so, please click on the link and complete your investigation within five (5) days of notification to do so. Please note based on the position and the level of ‘risk and sensitivity’ associated with it, there are different levels of investigations (NACI, MBI, BI). Should your position require a higher than ‘NACI’ level investigation, additional information will be needed prior to the creation of an account in e-QIP for you). The Staffing Specialists and HR Team will be in contact with you to obtain that information prior to your access to the e-QIP system. Should you have any questions, you may contact the local HR Office Investigation staff at 265-4310 or 275-2503 for assistance.

To enter e-QIP: go to www.opm.gov/e-qip/ and click on to enter the site:

Enter Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing System

In addition to the investigation component, you will need to be fingerprinted within 120 days of employment with the Agency. After completing the investigation requirements through e-QIP, please print the forms required in that system and bring it to the local HR Office with the ‘Electronic Fingerprint Memo’.
